We live in a community where people know and look out for each other.  They know people on their street by name and recognize others from crossing paths with them on their way to work, at the grocery store, or on the way to a child’s school.  People know who you are either directly or by your association with others.

There are many groups like this with varying degrees of overlap.  Most people are also connected digitally in one form or another.

Opting out of this system is fine, but there’s more to gain in the form of human connection by being an active participant.

There is power in connecting locally.
